Cherokee – The Lady Devils took their frustrations out on the softball Thursday, pounding 19 hits on the day and taking an 18-0 win over Cherokee in 5 innings. Following their frustrating doubleheader sweep at the hands of Rosman on Tuesday the Devils started fast, scoring 5 1st inning runs. Swain would go on to add 9 more runs in the 4th before scoring 4 in the 5th to close things out.
In the circle Megan Ammons and Taylor Day combined for the win. The duo struck out 2 and walked none and scattered only 3 hits over the 5 innings.
At the plate sophomore Shanye Catolster drove in 5 runs with 3 hits. Erin Jenkins and Gabby Jones also had 3 hits each for the potent Devils offense. Jones drove in 3 runs while Jenkins scored 3 times.
Grace Cabe, Alicia Green, and Catilyn Dills all went 2-4 on the day. Cabe scored 4 times while Dills and Green scored 3 times each and Dills drove a pair of runs as well. Bryar Buchanan finished with a pair of hits in 3 at bats driving in 2 and scoring 2 runs.
