Bryson City – Swain scored 2 runs in each of the final 3 innings to take a 7-2 SMC win over Andrews on Tuesday. The Lady Devils scored in the 1st and then added 2 more in the 4th. Andrews rallied in the 5th scoring twice, but Swain answered in the bottom half of the inning with 2 more runs to push their lead to 5-2, before adding two more in the 7th for the final margin.
The Lady Devils scored in the 1st inning on back to back doubles by Sydney Call and Shayne Catolster. In the 4th junior Callyn Brown drove home two runs with a double. Alyssa Smith and Gabby Jones scored on the Brown hit.
Then in the 5th, after Andrews had cut the Swain lead to one at 3-2, senior Caitlyn Dills came through with a huge hit. Dills doubled to drive home Erin Jenkins and Sydney Call and stretch the Swain lead to 5-2.
Gabby Jones added another run in the 6th as she reached on an error and then worked way around to score on a passed ball. A few batters later Alicia Green singled and then came around to score when Sydney Call tripled.
Call finished the game 3-4 with a double and triple to go with 2 runs scored and an rbi. Caitlyn Dills was 1-3 with a pair of rbi, as was Callyn Brown, while Gabby Jones scored twice.
Taylor Day picked up the win in the circle for Swain. Day scattered 7 hits, striking out 8 and walking only 2 in her 7 innings of work.
Prior to the game the Lady Devils honored their lone senior Caitlyn Dills.
