Bryson City – The Swain High Golf Team hosted at Smoky Mountain Country Club on March 17th. The team placed first overall with a team score of 171. Other schools represented were Highlands 180, Blue Ridge 198, and Rosman 233. Junior Grant Shuler set the pace and placed first with a score of +2 37. Junior Jack Cornblum and Junior Brett Treadway both fired a 44, and rounding out the top four scores was Junior Cameron Hampton with a 46. Also playing was Junior Drew Johnson and Sophomore Holden Petty both shooting a 54.
On Tuesday March 22nd, the team traveled to Brevard and Connesstee Falls Golf Course. Only two schools competed and Swain placed first with a team score of 163 to Rosman’s 238. “This was our best performance this year and I hope that we can keep up the trend of getting better and playing within our own capabilities. This team has a lot of potential,” stated Coach Crisp. Jack Cornblum led the way with a +2 38 shooting his best round this year. Also shooting their best rounds this year were Holden Petty with a 41, Cameron Hampton and Brett Treadway both with a 43. Grant Shuler rounded out the top four with a 41. Drew Johnson also had a great day with a 52. The team travels to Cherokee Hills on Thursday March 24th.
