Albemarle – The Lady Devils are having a banner year, already recording their most wins since the 2007-08 season, and Tuesday they added to that with a 55-41 1st round win over Albemarle. Swain used a 18-7 run over the game’s final 8 minutes to pull away and take the win by the score of 55-41.
Lynsey Hicks sparked the 4th quarter run, scoring 8 of her 10 points in the final quarter. The Lady Devils owned the boards all night, placing 3 players in double figure rebounds. Maleeah Langstaff finished one blocked shot shy of a triple double. Langstaff had a game high 18 points to go with 16 rebounds and 9 blocked shots. Grace Cabe finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, but it was Cabe’s defense that stood out on the night as she limited Albemarle’s best player to 11 points, half of her season average. Taylor Medlin finished with 10 rebounds and 9 points.
Swain will travel to Elkin, the number 4 seed in the west, on Thursday. Game time to be announced later.
