Bryson City – Swain used a strong 4th quarter to break open a close contest and eventually coast to a 69-47 win over visiting Highlands on Tuesday. At the end of the 3rd quarter Swain held only a 2 point lead at 45-43. Then over the game’s final 8 minutes the Devils outscored Highlands 24-4 to take the win.
On a night where the Devils honored their lone senior, Angel Bowers, it was Bowers who played one of his best games of the year. Bowers would finish with 14 points, 5 assists and 5 steals, including a crucial three pointer, in the 4th quarter, that stretched the Devils lead to double digits for the first time in the game.
For most of the game the Maroon Devils ran their offense through freshman center Zeke Bradley and Bradley responded with an outstanding performance. He would finish with a team high 21 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocked shots. Phinehas Little added 17 points and 6 rebounds for the Devils.
