Bryson City – A day removed from a tough loss on the road at Tuscola the Maroon Devils started slowly. Midway through a lackluster slow paced 1st quarter Coach Scotty McMahan turned to his bench. The reserves of Breir Younce, Nolan Arkansas, Keshaun Beaner, Ethan Jackson, and Darren Blankenship responded in a big way. That five changed the tempo and feel of the whole game, priming the Devils to a 86-50 win over visiting Blue Ridge.
Starter Grant Shuler had a terrific night, something Maroon Devil fans have grown accustomed to, as he finished with a game high 22 points to go along with a game high 13 rebounds. Fellow starters Evan Bradley (11 points, 6 assists) and Zeke Bradley (10 points) scored in double figures. In the end though it was the bench trio of Younce, Arkansas, and Blankenship that stole the show. Blankenship finished with 11 points, while Younce and Arkansas had 9 each for the Devils who finished with a season high 86 points.
