Murphy – Tuesday Swain bolted out to a 12-4 1st quarter lead, and then proceeded to shutout Murphy in the 2nd quarter to build a 20-4 halftime lead. From there the Lady Devils never looked back taking a 48-34 conference win.
Maleeah Langstaff paced Swain with a game high 22 points. Lynsey Hicks added 6 points, while Gabby Jones chipped in 5 and Grace Cabe 4.
Swain has taken their 2nd straight win despite having 6 people who are injured and unable to dress out. Those injuries have caused other players to have to step up, a fact shared by junior Gabby Jones. “We’ve had a lot of adversity. Six of our players have had injuries. A lot of people have had to step up, and they have.”
For the Lady Devils their goals may have changed somewhat, as stated by senior Brooklyn Brown. “Our goal right now, we just talked about it, our top goal is to win conference.”
The Lady Devils are on track for just such a finish, with a lot of exciting basketball still left to be played.
