Bryson City – Swain split a pair of matches this week, winning 3-0 over Andrews on Monday and losing 3-0 to Rosman on Tuesday. Against Andrews the Lady Devils overcame adversity to take the win by the scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-20.
Senior middle hitter Faith Long was out along with Brette Pattillo. Emma Blythe stepped in and did a wonderful job filling in the middle position. Blythe finished with 3 kills and 2 blocks. During the match Alyssa Smith was injured forcing Gabby Lane had to step in and play more than she normally does. Lane, the senior libero, played solid defense and keyed the offense with solid passing. Grace Cabe lead Swain with 8 kills, she also added 7 digs.
Tuesday the Lady Devils fell to second place Rosman by the scores of 26-24, 25-12, and 25-16. Gabby Jones paced Swain with 6 kills. Autumn Brown had 8 assists and a pair of aces.
