Bryson City – The Lady Devils used strong serving on the way to taking a 3-0 sweep of visiting Blue Ridge on Thursday. Swain took the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-13. In games 1 and 3 the Lady Devils built large leads by taking advantage of having the first serve. Senior Autumn Brown set the tone for Swain by taking full advantage of serving. Brown got Swain out in front 5-1 in game 1 and 7-1 in game 3.
Brown paced Swain with a match high 15 assists, 4 aces, and 4 kills. Sophomore Grace Cabe paced the hitting attack with a match high 8 kills, followed by Gabby Jones who had 5 kills, while Ashley Winchester, Brooklyn Brown, and Faith Long each had 3 kills. Long finished with 3 blocks as well.
Swain’s success from the service line was widespread. Sophomore Alyssa Smith finished with a team high 5 aces, while Gabby Jones had 4.
Senior Libero Gabby Lane, along with Smith, Jones, and Grace Cabe did a great job with passing all night long, continually putting the Lady Devils into attach position.
