Hendersonville – It’s early in the season for the Maroon Devils to face a must win situation, but Friday’s nonconference contest with North Henderson took on that feel. After trailing 7-6 at halftime, the Maroon Devils came out in the second half in full attack mode. Swain outscored North 21-14 over the final two quarters to take a 28-21 win.
After Chris Miller went down to an injury early in the game, Jordan Cody moved to running back and had a career night. Cody finished with a game high (and career high) 128 yards on 16 carries, including a 66 yard run that put the Devils ahead for good. Cody finished with 242 all-purpose yards for the game to go along with a pair of touchdowns.
Swain rushed for 258 yards for the game, the majority of which came in the 2nd half.
On defense the Maroon Devils limited North to under 100 yards rushing. Swain was led on defense by Ross Ensley and Issiah Bradley who each had 7 tackles. Brody Sitton, William Paul, and Johnny Woodard each had 5 tackles.
