Andrews – The Maroon Devils won the first time they played at Andrews, only to have that wiped out by a protest. Yesterday they made good on the re-played game by downing the Wildcats 11-1. Following their first meeting at Andrews the Wildcats protested when they had a player disqualified prior to the game and not given a warning for wearing jewelry. Their protest was upheld and the two teams had to start all over at the top of the 1st.
This time around the Devils built a 4-1 lead over the first five innings, and then scored 6 runs in the 6th inning to break the game open. Swain added an insurance run in the top of the 7th to make the final score of 11-1.
Jake Marr went 3-5 with a solo home run, in the decisive 6th inning, and a pair of rbi on the day. Zach Epps, Matt Waldroup and Dawson Lowe each had a pair of hits for Swain. Jarrett Shuler drove in 3 runs on the day.
On the mound Conner Cochran picked up the win, working 3 full innings and giving up only 1 unearned run. He struck out 3 and gave up 3 hits. Jordan McGaha worked 4 innings of relief scattering 3 hits and striking out 2.
