Cherokee – On a day when the Lady Devils won their first SMC track Championship since 2009 they were sparked by several outstanding performances. Sophomore Maggie Burns turned in the top performance of the day. Burns won conference championships in the long jump (15’5.5″), 400-meter dash (1:02.89), 200-meter dash (27.69), and anchored the 4×400 meter relay team (4:24.28). Joining Burns on the relay were Madison Travitz, Emma Pindur, and Lynsey Hicks.
For her efforts Burns was named the Smoky Mountain Conference Most Valuable Performer.
