Highlands – Swain fired a final round team score of 362 at the Smoky Mountain Conference Championships on Monday. After trailing Murphy by 14 strokes at the end of round 1 the Maroon Devils could not make up ground finishing 3rd overall. Highlands took the conference championship with a two day total of 667. Murphy was 2nd with a score of 686. Swain finished with a two day total of 717, placing them 3rd overall.
Swain’s Grant Shuler was positioned 3 strokes off of the lead after the 1st round. Shuler could not close the gap on Brett Armundrud of Highlands. Shuler finished with a two day total of 161, 4 strokes back. By virtue of his finish Shuler was named All Smoky Mountain Conference. Jack Cornblum finished with a two day total of 175, which was good enough to place him as Smoky Mountain Conference Honorable Mention.
