Bryson City – (Special From David Outlaw) – Swain fought hard in a 5-1 loss to Highlands Wednesday night. The Lady Devils held the Highlanders to only a single first half goal by applying relentless pressure on the possession oriented Highland team. The high pressure defense frustrated the Highlander attack by denying them an opportunity to make good passes. In the second half Highlands’ skill and experience, and some weary legs on the part of the Lady Devils, was enough to allow 4 more Highlander goals. For the Devils, Storm Ledford scored her third goal of the season in the second half after receiving a throw-in from Erin Zwick. Amy West made several spectacular saves in goal and Kylie Pond cleared several dangerous balls our of the Swain defense. Abby Durisseau played tough in the midfield as well.
