Robbinsville – The James Orr Invitational has become one of the premier wrestling tournaments in Western North Carolina. Annually it brings in wrestlers and teams from all over the western part of North Carolina. Swain High School had several wrestlers who had outstanding showings at the Orr Tournament.
Senior Graham Allen finished second overall. Allen defeated wrestlers from Smoky Mountain and Tuscola before falling to Jaron Bradley (Cherokee) in an 11-4 decision. Ross Ensley and Chris Miller followed Allen with second place finishes. Ensley downed wrestlers from Smoky Mountain and Alleghany before falling to Justin Hogan (Tuscola) in a 10-4 decision. Chris Miller took wins over wrestlers from Avery and Hayesville. Miller was downed in the championship match by Tyler Pressley (Owen).
Austin Padilla finished third overall. Padilla lost in the second round to Josh Davis (Tuscola), but bounced back to win his next two matches and finish third.
Dawson Lowe and William Jenkins both finished fourth.
