Bryson City – The Maroon Devils held off a Highlands comeback in the closing minutes to post a 42-33 win Friday. Swain got off to a great start as they held Highlands to 3 first quarter points and led at the half 20-9. The Devils extended that lead in the 3rd quarter as they outscored Highlands 17-9. Highlands outscored Swain 15-5 over the game’s final 8 minutes.
Grant Shuler paced Swain with a game high 14 points, Shuler added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Freshman Shane Swimmer added 10 points, while Jake Marr added 9 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
