Bryson City – Swain High’s Jordan Cody was selected to the Asheville-Citizen Times’ All WNC Football Team for the 2014 season. Cody, a junior, was named as First Team Special Teams Player on the All WNC List. Cody earned All-Smoky Mountain Conference honors after returning 16 punts for 368 yards and four touchdowns (an average of 23.0 yards per return) and 26 kickoffs for 584 yards and a touchdown (an average of 22.5 per return). He was also the Maroon Devils’ punter, averaging 32.1 yards per kick. Cody had 2,042 all-purpose yards and scored a team-high 14 touchdowns. He also had four touchdowns on defense.
Swain High had 12 fall athletes who were named Honorable Mention All WNC in their respective sports. In football Taylor Oros, Spencer McCoy, Kobe Toineeta, Caanan Sellers, Angel Bowers, and Ross Ensley were named. Parker Chatham, Shelby Hyatt, and Emma Pindur were Honorable Mention in Cross Country. Lydia Sale, Alyssa Robinson, and Karie Jones were Honorable Mention in volleyball.
