BRYSON CITY – Swain quarterback Raymius Smith has been named the Smoky Mountain Conference Back of the Year. Smith directed the Maroon Devils to a 12-3 overall mark and their 3rd straight SMC Crown. On the season Smith finished with 1932 yards passing on 115 of 198 passes. He threw for 23 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions, averaging over 170 yards of total offense per game.
For his career Smith became one of only a handful of WNC quarterbacks to surpass 6000 passing yards, finishing with 6229 yards and 80 touchdowns on 351 of 593 passes. At Swain Smith became only the 2nd quarterback in school history to throw for over 4000 yards in their career, finishing with 4703 yards.
