Swain County was the only Smoky Mountain Conference school to qualify in the girls race.
Both Shelby Hyatt (5th) and Madison Travitz (9th) were named to the All-Regional team. Lauren Shell (23rd), Erin Zwick (32nd) and Kylie Pond (39th) were the other scorers. Haley Cooper (42nd) and Serina Holt (45th) will also compete at the State Championship.
The Swain County boys placed 9th overall at the Regional meet, one spot higher than last year, despite being without two of their key contributors. Russell Bigmeat was the top finisher in 13th place.
The 1A Girls Championship race is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on November 2nd. The meet will take place at Beeson Park in Kernersville.
