Swain at Robbinsville Game Notes 9-27-13

  • State Championship Pedigree
    • Robbinsville 10 State 1A Championships (since 1972) Last one was in 1992
      • The Knights have actually won 13 State Championships, counting ones in 1969, 70, and 71 (3 years prior to the time the NCHSAA begin awarding them and thus counting the titles)
      • Years won – 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 76, 77, 79, 80, 81,82, 83, 92
  • Swain 8 State Football Championships (since 1972) Last one was in 2011
    • Years won – 79, 85, 88, 89, 90, 01, 04, 11
  • Just to recap (cause it is an amazing statistic to think about) One of the two won State Championships in the following years:
    • 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 76, 77, 79, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 85, 88, 89, 90, 93, 01, 04, 11
    • Add Murphy to the mix and there were only 4 schools other than Robbsinville (10), Swain (5), and Murphy (4) who won State 1A Championships from 1972-1993

        • #2 QB Dakota Crisp is 33 of 61 for 706 yards and 7 TDs with 2 Int
        • #3 RB Cruz Galaviz has 55 carries for 699 yards with 12 TDs
        • #21 Alex Walsh has 11 catches for 298 yards and 5 TDs
        • #11 Skylar Matheson leads the defense with 49 tackles in 4 games
        • #61 Brandon Lee has 44 tackles in 4 games
  • For the Devils
    • #5 QB Raymius Smith is 32 for 65 for 570 yards & 5 TDs with 3 Int
    • #22 RB Spencer McCoy has 89 carries for 6605 yards with 8 TDs
    • #8 Kobe Toineeta has 16 catches for 216 yards
    • #12 Taylor Oros leads the defense with 60 tackles in 5 games
    • The series (between the 2 is long and storied, we only dug back to 1998 in researching)
      • Since 1998 Swain holds a slight lead 8-7 in wins
      • Currently Swain has won the last 2.
      • Prior to that Robbinsville won 4 in a row (from2007-2010)
      • Prior to that Swain won 4 in a row (from 2003-2006)
      • Interestingly enough the average score between the 2 over the last 15 years is         Swain 24.79 Robbinsville 23.43
      • Robbinsville holds the only shutouts in the series dating back to 1998, the Knights recorded an impressive 3 in a row from 2008 to 2010
      • In 12 of the 15 years the winning team scored more than 30 points
