BRYSON CITY-Things started slowly for the Lady Devils, but ended with a flourish. Swain dropped the first set but rebounded to take the next three and a 3-1 win over visiting Murphy Thursday night.
After building an impressive lead in game 1 the Lady Devils saw that slip away and lost to the Bulldogs 24-26. The loss seemed to light a fire under the Devils who rebounded with 3 straight set wins by the scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-22.
After being silent in game 1 junior outside hitter Lydia Sale came to life in game 2. Sale tallied 7 (unofficial) kills in the second game to help lead the Lady Devils to a 25-10 blowout.
Leading hitters Sale and Jenn Brown continued to stay aggressive the remainder of the match. Sale would finish with a match high 17 kills, while Brown added 12.
With the win the Lady Devils move to 16-5 overall and 10-1 in Smoky Mountain Conference play.
