- We had to dig way back in the archives, and we could have missed something, but we believe this to be only the second meeting between the two schools. They played last in 1983, where the Mountaineers took a 36-6 win.
- Tuscola is 2-1 on the season with wins over Cherokee and East Rutherford, and their lone loss coming to TC Roberson. Meanwhile the Maroon Devils had their 21 game regular season winning streak snapped last week at Franklin, Swain’s wins have come against East Henderson, Smoky Mountain, and North Henderson.
- This is the final non-conference game for both schools, as next week Tuscola hosts Smoky Mountain in their conference opener, while the Maroon Devils travel to Robbinsville for a game with huge state wide implications, as both are ranked in the state’s top 10.
