Swain took a hard fought 4-2 win over Robbinsville on Friday. Sophomore Karie Jones pitched 5 strong innings and went 3-3 at the plate to key the Lady Devils win.
Swain carried a 1-0 lead into the 6th inning, when Robbinsville struck for 2 runs to take a 2-1 lead. Swain responded in the bottom of the 6th. Kendra Kirkland led off with a single, and promptly advanced to second on a Maggie Sutton ground out. Jessica Winchester singled, followed by a Taylor Shuler single which scored Kirkland to tie the game. Adrianna Kaylor reached on an error to load the bases. Winchester scored on a Karie Jones single, then Shuler scored on a ground ball from Olivia Steely.
Maggie Sutton worked the final inning and two thirds to pick up the win for the Devils.
