Following a standout fall sports season the Maroon Devils find themselves in first place for the Conference Cup (NCHSAA) and the Model Walsh Award (Smoky Mtn Conference). Points are awarded for where schools place, thus recognizing the top athletic program within the conference.
Swain currently leads with 50 points, followed by Murphy 47, and Hayesville 44 points.

Smoky Mountain 1-A: First place belongs to Swain after the fall, thanks to top finishes in football and women’s cross country, and a runner-up performance in volleyball. Murphy is in second with a conference crown in soccer and a second-place finish in football. Hayesville, who is currently third, finished first in men’s cross country and second in women’s cross country.
