Swain’s Russell Bigmeat ran his best race of the season in the last race of the season. Bigmeat, the lone Maroon Devil to qualify for the State 1A Championship meet, finished 39th overall at the Championship meet held at Beeson Park in Kearnersville.
Bigmeat’s time was 17:47.29, his best of the season. HIs goals heading into the State Championship Meet was to break the 18 minute mark, and in doing so finish in the top 50. Well, he accomplished both goals in representing Swain High in the 3.1 mile race.
