The Maroon Devil football team heads into a Friday where they will play their biggest game of the year. Coach Neil Blankenship and his staff are making last minute adjustments and preparing his team.
One thing is certain, the Maroon Devils will be ready to play. Just as Murphy has, they have waited for weeks for this game, THE game. So the Devils will be ready.
The biggest question of all is, will the Devil faithful be ready? The vaunted Maroon Machine that helped Swain capture a State Title last year, and put on the most impressive show in school history at the State Championship game, has been missing this season.
Granted, the Maroon Machine has not been needed, as Swain has cruised to 10 straight wins without being tested. Face it, as fans we have become…. well is it fair to say bored or spoiled. This is the time of year where all of that changes.
There will be nothing to be bored with Friday night, two very good football teams are going to get after each other for four full quarters. History has shown us that. It will be an EPIC contest, and as such deserves (needs) the full Maroon Machine, meaning everyone to be on board.
It is time, for the Devils faithful to break out the jugs, put the maroon on and get busy.
It is time, for the Maroon Machine to quit jeering opponents and yelling at referees and start chanting go…go…go, or defense…defense…defense as well as stand on their feet on big plays and cheer OUR team on.
It is time, for the Maroon Machine to become the awesome weapon it was at State last year and be a force.
It is time, the team is ready, the cheerleaders are ready, the band is ready, are YOU ready?
