Andrews
Two weeks ago the Maroon Devils lost their focus against Hayesville, since that point it would appear that the Devils have re-focused themselves, especially offensively. For the last two weeks Swain is averaging 61 points per game. This past week they used the offensive precision of a surgeon as they dismantled Andrews 62-6.
Swain’s offense scored an amazing three touchdowns on exactly three offensive plays to open the game against Andrews. Not to be outdone the Maroon defense held Andrews to -7 yards of total offense until midway through the fourth quarter. Andrews would finish the game with 14 yards of total offense, compared to the Devils 389.
After holding on the first series the Maroon Devils forced Andrews to punt. Matthew Maennle caught the punt on the 24-yard line and scampered 76 yards down the Swain sideline for a touchdown, the longest punt return touchdown of his illustrious career.
Swain’s offense went to work next, showing great efficiency the Devils scored three touchdowns on three offensive plays. First Raymius Smith found Matthew Maennle for a 45 yard touchdown pass. Then Smith found Greg Tisho on a 24 yard touchdown pass. Garrett Lane took a Smith handoff and raced 26 yards.
By the time the first quarter ended the Devils had a 27-0 lead and things well in hand.
In the second quarter Lane found the endzone again, this time from 10 yards out. Smith hit Greg Tisho with another touchdown pass this one from 40 yards out.
Smith closed out the first team scoring for the night with 8:28 left in the 3rd quarter, when he found Matthew Maennle with a 15 yard touchdown pass.
Sean Webb and Devon Cooper added touchdown runs, Webb from 40 yards out, while Cooper’s went for 34-yards.
Colyn Petty made good on seven of eight extra points, while Cooper Reinert added his second career extra point.
Raymius Smith finished his night a crisp 9 of 13 for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns. Maennle and Tisho both had 4 catches and 2 touchdowns each. On the ground the Devils had 6 rushers run for more than 10 yards, and finished with 167 yards as as a team.
The Maroon defense was outstanding all night long. Swain limited Andrews to 14 yards rushing on 40 attempts for the evening. Through the air the Wildcats were 1 of 9 with 2 interceptions and 3 total yards.
With the win the Devils move to 9-0 on the season and return home friday for their final regular season home game.
