On a warm, cloudless day in Cherokee, the Swain girls kept their streak of top performances intact by notching a 2nd place finish. Hayesville won the girls title, followed by Murphy in third.
Blair Allman took top honors for the Lady Devils, finishing 7th overall in a time of 23:50, narrowly edging out teammate and 8th place finisher Lauren Shell (23:54). Autumn Demonet strung together an impressive last mile to finish in 16th place with a time of 25:21, followed by Tori Swartz (19th – 26:04) and Summer Hight (26th – 28:30). Morgan Lowe (29:24) and Abbe Kirby (30:28) also competed for Swain. Top sophomore Erin Zwick, who ran number three for Swain last week, was sidelined with a knee injury.
The Lady Devils head to the High Country Classic in Boone this Saturday, then return to conference action next Wednesday at Hiwassee Dam.
