CASHIERS, WNC – Swain Maroon Devils Varsity refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Blue Ridge High School, recording a 12-1 victory on Saturday at Swain.
With 10 runs in the first three innings, Swain Maroon Devils Varsity left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
An RBI triple by Taylor Jones in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Jared Turbyfill, a two-run single by Tanner Burrell, and a two-run single by Jones during the second inning helped Swain put some runs on the board early.
Jones racked up four RBIs on two hits for Swain Maroon Devils Varsity.
Dylon Winchester got the win for Swain Maroon Devils Varsity. He pitched two shutout innings. The Swain Maroon Devils Varsity pitcher struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
