HIWASSEE DAM, WNC – A magnificent effort by Kendra Kirkland hoisted Swain County to an 11-1 win in seven innings over Hiwassee Dam on Wednesday.
Kirkland blasted two home runs for Swain County. Kirkland went 4-4 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Kirkland homered in the first and sixth innings.
Five runs in the opening three innings allowed Swain County to easily put away Hiwassee Dam. An error, an error, and a two-run home run by Kirkland during the first inning supplied the early offense for Swain County.
Richelle Jenkins baffled Hiwassee Dam, striking out six batters. Jenkins allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks over seven innings.
