CHEROKEE, WNC – After a week off for spring break the Lady Devils were a little sluggish in the opening innings Thursday against host Cherokee. But the ladies found their groove scoring 11 runs over the final 3 innings to take a 13-2 win over the Braves.
Brooke Coggins hit a 3 run home run in the top of the fifth to pace a 7 run 5th inning for Swain. Kendra Kirkland stayed hot with 3 more hits, including a pair of doubles. Junior outfielder Nikki Cody went 4-4 on the day and scored 3 times to go along with a steal.
Richelle Jenkins picked up the win in relief of Brooke Coggins. Jenkins worked 3 strong innings, scattering 2 hits and striking out 6, to move to 7-1 on the season.
