BRYSON CITY, WNC – The Franklin Panthers scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to break open a 0-0 tie and post a 5-0 win over Swain. It marked the first loss of the season for the Lady Devils, who played flawless until the 6th.
Swain’s Richelle Jenkins carried a no-hitter into the 6th, before the Panthers broke through with a hit. The Lady Devils played flawless defense behind Jenkins through the game’s first 5 innings.
NC State signee Chelsea Standfield struck out 7 Lady Devils. Swain managed 3 hits against the lefty, but could not scratch out a run.
