BRYSON CITY, WNC – The Swain County Boys’ Track Team finished second to Robbinsville in their first meet of the 2012 season. Swain won all but one of the running events, and they finished second in that one.
Ultimately, however, it was Robbinsville’s depth that allowed them to pull away by the score of 123-108 in the four-team race. Cody Ellis anchored three winning relay teams (4×1, 4×2 and the 4×4) and he won the 200 meter race with a time of 23.28. Tyler Wike anchored the winning 4×8 relay team and he won both the 1600 meter race (5:06.06) and the 3200 meter relay race (11:28). Alex Cook contributed also to the winning 4×8 relay team’s victory, and he won the 800 meter race (2:20.37). Greg Tisho ran an impressive first leg in the 400 meter relay race and he won the 400 meter race (53.37). Overall, the distance runners ran impressive races with Tyler Bowman, Jose Silva, and Scott Sneed picking up crucial points in the 800 meter, the 1600 meter, and the 3200 meter races. Colby Hyatt was on three winning relay teams, as was Lee Patillo. Cody Rich ran impressive races in the 4×1,4×2, and the 100 meter races respectively.
