GREENSBORO, NC – SCHS, The 2012 North Carolina High School All State Chorus welcomes Alexandria Treaway (sophomore), Madelyn Wike (senior), and Matthew Finch (senior). Together with the top high school singers across the state they will spend all Friday and Saturday morning rehearsing in preparation for a combined public performance at the Greensboro War Memorial Coliseum on January 28th at 3pm. These students auditioned in October along with other students of choral director Maggie Jennings and were selected for this year’s honor. The purpose of the All-State Choral Festival is to give our most outstanding students a chance to participate with other students of like ability in a highly select group and to give these students an opportunity to work with outstanding choral directors. One representative for each of the following three choirs were selected: SSA Women’s Choir (Madelyn Wike), 9th-10th grade Mixed Chorus (Alexandria Treadway), and 11th-12th Grade Mixed Chorus (Matthew Finch). Each student has been rehearsing during lunch and after school since mid-November to prepare for this experience. Swain County Schools roots them on this weekend and congratulates them on a job well done!
