BRYSON CITY, WNC – Matthew Maennle made good on 10 of 17 free throws, including several down the stretch to help the Devils notch their first conference win with a 65-53 win over Murphy, at Murphy. Maennle paced the Devils with a game high 18 points and 6 assists. Greg Tisho added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Seth Curtis paced the Dogs with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Swain made 16 of 34 free throws over the second half to help salt away the win.
In girl’s action the Lady Devils fell by the score of 80-55 to Murphy. Jordan Maples scored a game high 27 points and Valerie Arkansas chipped in 14 points as the Lady Devils lost to Murphy, who shot 60% from the floor. The Bulldogs got off to a 26-6 start to begin the game and never looked back in recording the win.
