Sylva- The sky was clear and the sun was out when our cross country teams traveled to Western Carolina University last Saturday, September 17th to race in the Great Smoky Mountain Crossfest. This was an invitational meet with several large schools in attendance. With the temperature averaging in the low 80s, the race conditions were as good as it gets in September. The course was cool and fast making it the perfect PR (Personal Record) course. We had some runners who stood out from the crowd at this meet who were awarded for finishing in the top 15. This included Parker Chatham (13th), Emma Pindur (3rd), Rebecca Duncan (10th), and Lily Richards (15th). Our Lady Devils finished 3rd overall ahead of two larger schools, Pisgah and Tuscola, as well as conference rivals, Cherokee and Robbinsville. The Maroon Devils finished 4th ahead of Tuscola and Cherokee. Our cross country teams will be traveling to Asheville Christian Academy for the Ramble by the River meet this Saturday, September the 24th.
Come out and support your XC teams.
